Dr. Tong performs 350 open heart operations a year and his clinical expertise include Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD), Heart Transplantation, Aortic Surgery, aortic root and valve sparing root operations, complex valvular disease, Coronary Artery Disease including total arterial revascularization, surgical cardiomyopathy, complex redo operations, Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH), and pulmonary embolism. He performs 40 pulmonary endarterectomy annually and is a member of the PERT team. In addition, Dr. Tong leads the team that performs around 100 LVADs and 60 heart transplantations annually. Dr. Tong has authored or co-authored peer-reviewed articles in cardiovascular surgery journals and book chapters and speaks at cardiovascular surgery conferences in the United States, Canada and internationally every year. Dr. Tong also holds clinical patents on innovative technology to improve the lives of patients.
