Dr. Sheikh earned his medical degree at University of California San Francisco, followed by general surgery training at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Sheikh then completed his fellowships in cardiothoracic surgery, thoracic transplantation, and mechanical support at Stanford University, where he stayed on as faculty. He joined Kaiser Permanente in 2015 and currenlty leads the surgical mitral program at the San Francisco campus. Dr. Sheikh has an interest in surgical education and serves as the fellowship site director for UCSF fellows at Kaiser SF.
