Dr. Fernando Fleischman is co-director of comprehensive aortic center at USC, and associate program director for Cardiac surgery residency program at Keck school of medicine. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina he was raised in Los Angeles. He went to UCLA, graduating with a Bachelors in Biology, as well as a Bachelors in History. He continued his medical education in Puerto Rico, graduating Magna Cum Laude followed by surgical training in Newark, New Jersey at UMDNJ(Rutgers). Returning to Los Angeles he pursued cardiothoracic training at USC under the mentorship of Dr. Vaughn Starnes. He joined the faculty at USC and currently serves as associate program director of cardiac surgery. His focus is on aortic disease and surgical education, serving on the editorial board of Joint Council of Thoracic surgery, as well as the STS. Dr. Fleischman has received numerous teaching awards, and is lauded for his work with education and endovascular skills.
