Sarah Schettle has been actively involved in the mechanical circulatory support device community for over 14 years and was recently appointed to Associate Professor of Surgery by Mayo Clinic in 2024. She is past President of the International Consortium of Circulatory Assist Clinicians, was selected for America’s Top 10 PAs in 2020, and was awarded the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation Nursing and Allied Health Professional Community Award for Excellence in 2022 where she also served as the Chair of LVAD and Transplant Competencies and on the Leadership Advisory Forum. Sarah has extensively published and presented both nationally and internationally on a variety of mechanical support related topics, and also serves on the Workforce on Multidisciplinary Team Care within STS. She retains Board of Directors roles in organizations ranging from Listos, a local dual immersion early learning educational program in English and Spanish, to the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences, and also helps to create opportunities for the professional advancement of women in her role on the Executive Team for United Way’s Women United Taskforce. Outside of medicine, Sarah is an avid runner and has completed numerous marathons, is currently preparing for the Boston marathon in 2025, and also enjoys traveling and exploring warmer climates during the cold Minnesota winters.
