Dr. Ibrahim Sultan is a cardiac surgeon and is board certified in general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery. Dr. Sultan earned his medical degree from Cornell and completed his residency in general surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He subsequently completed his residency in cardiothoracic surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he also served as an advanced fellow in thoracic aortic surgery and minimally invasive valve surgery.
He is a Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery and the Division Chief of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and UPMC. Dr. Sultan’s clinical practice includes all aspects of adult cardiac surgery with an emphasis on aortic surgery, minimally invasive valve surgery, and advanced coronary artery disease. He serves as a principal investigator on multiple research trials, has published more than 400 articles on cardiovascular and aortic disease, delivered more than 250 national and international lectures and has received federal funding from the department of defense.
