Dr. Furlow is a full-time faculty member at Harvard Medical School, the director of the Mass General Lung Metastasis Research Laboratory within the Thoracic Surgery Research Labs, and a Center for Precision Cancer Medicine fellow with the laboratory of Dr. Michael Yaffe at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He obtained his MD at Weill Cornell Medical School, PhD at The Rockefeller University, and completed his general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery residencies at MGH. Dr. Furkow is an early career surgeon-scientist whose interests include studying the molecular mechanisms of lung cancer recurrence and metastasis, as well as the surgical management of benign and malignant diseases of the lungs, airway, pleura, chest wall, and mediastinum. He has a particular clinical interest in minimally invasive thoracic surgery and the management of tumor spread through air spaces (STAS). Dr. Furlow currently lives in Belmont, MA with his wife, Jennie, and two amazing kids, William and Stella. When he's not operating or doing research, Paul is spending time with his family or writing and recording original rock music.
