Dr. Ward is a cardiothoracic surgeon practicing at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Ward received a BA from Johns Hopkins University and her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She completed an integrated general surgery/cardiothoracic surgery residency and a cardiothoracic surgery research fellowship at NYU. In 2021 she joined Emory University School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery and in 2022 she took over as Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Grady Memorial Hospital, a large safety net hospital in downtown Atlanta. Her clinical interests include gender disparities in cardiothoracic surgery, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, surgical management of atrial fibrillation, ERAS, and cardiac critical care. She is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Women in Thoracic Surgery, Eastern Cardiothoracic Surgical Society, Southern Thoracic Surgical Association, and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
