Dr. Stoppe, Professor of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at the Charité in Berlin and Würzburg University (Germany) is developing and leading several international clinical trials. Together with his international collaborators, he has built an international clinical research trial group for several interventional nutrition studies and received many grants for his research from for example the DFG (German Research Foundation) and other third-party funding agencies. His research focuses on nutrition studies, perioperative optimization strategies, functional outcomes & risk assessment, guidelines, translational studies and organ protective strategies with special focus on cardiac surgery, severely burn and critically ill patients. Dr. Stoppe has successfully published over 250 publications, has given many talks at international congresses and repeatedly serves as lecturer for international courses on nutrition and metabolism. Furthermore, he functions a member of the European-, American-, German- and Canadian Nutrition Guidelines Committee and as content expert for the ERAS Cardiac group.
