Dr. Glas completed medical school and Anesthesiology residency at MCV in Richmond, VA. She then moved to Atlanta for a one year ACTA fellowship and stayed 25 years. In her time at Emory, she served as ACTA PD, Cardiac Anesthesia Division Chief, Chief of Professional development, Interim Chair and VC, Professional Development and DEI. Since 2014, her professional goal has been to 'pay forward' the mentorship and sponsorship she received, and guide others towards success. She speaks about gender equity and unconscious bias. In March 21, she was recruited to University of Arizona, Tucson as Department Chair. She stepped down as Chair in July and is returning to Emory. Her national and international engagement in American Society of Echocardiography and Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists focused around education and guidelines for perioperative echocardiography. She is currently the 3rd female President of the SCA in its 45 year history. She has an active practice in CVICU in Tuscon and regularly cares for acute heart failure patients and postoperative surgical patients needing MCS support. She educates patient families about critical illness and provides guidance on care decisions for families acutely exposed to critical illness of their loved ones.
