I am a cardiac surgeon at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and professor of cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and I am responsible for the robotic cadiac surgery program. In the past introduced and ran robotic heart surgery at Innsbruck Medical University in Austria, the University of Maryland, the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. I have held academic and leadership positions at these institutions, I have carried out 1000 + cases using a surgical robot, and I have performed several "wold firsts" in robotic heart surgery. My scientific activities resulted in more than 300 publications. I served as the President of the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery (ISMICS) and the Minimally Invasive Robotic Association (MIRA) and I am active in the task forces for robotic cardiac surgery of several major scientific societies.
