I have been caring for inpatients and outpatients with congenital cardiac disease since 1985, with an emphasis on improving short and long term outcomes, particularly neurodevelopmental outcomes and quality of life. I have been a founding member of the Pediatric Cardiac Intenisve Care Society, the World Society for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease, the Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Outcome Collaborative and the International Society for Pediatric Mechanical Circulatory Support. I have helped train over 300 fellows in Cardiology, Critical Care, Neonatology and Surgery, and countless medical students and residents. I am currently investigaing new strategies for care of the neonate with complex CHD during the transistional circulation.
