Dr Lisa Hornberger is a Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta and Divisional Director of Pediatric Cardiology. For more than 3 decades Lisa has been involved in clinical, educational and research endeavors related to the fetal and newborn heart in health and disease. She has published over 210 peer-reviewed articles and co-authored textbooks focused on the early diagnosis, evolution, management and outcomes of fetal and newborn heart disease. Her contributions to our field through research and education have led to her being awarded the American Society of Echocardiography Founder’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Contributions to Echocardiography in Pediatrics and Congenital Heart Disease and runner up for the Pediatric Echocardiography Teacher of the Year in 2018 as well as the Canadian Cardiovascular Congress CPCA Plenary John Keith Lecture as a recognized Canadian leader in the field of fetal and neonatal cardiology.
