Nationwide Children's Hospital
I enjoyed my training in cardiovascular surgery in Germany from 2004-2010. After my congenital cardiac surgery fellowship between 2010-2012 at Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC under the supervision of Dr. Richard Jonas I joined the team at the Pediatric Heart Center, Giessen in Germany and specilaized in the hybrid treatment of hypoplastic left heart syndrome. I was appointed as an attending surgeon and associate professor of surgery and pediatrics at Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC in 2017. We have established the hybrid program in Washington, DC for the treatment of high-risk patients with hypoplastic left heart syndrome where I was promoted to associate chief of cardiac surgery in 2022. As the director of the fellowship program I was responsible for the curriculum and training of international fellows in the division. Since September 2024 I was appointed as the associate chief of cardiothoracic surgery and professor of surgery at Nationwide Children's Hospital and the Ohio State University College of Medicine.
