Dr. Christopher Baird is Director of the Congenital Heart Valve Program in the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital and the Associate Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Baird obtained his medical degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed his residencies in general surgery and cardiovascular surgery at The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Baird completed his Congenital Heart Surgery Fellowship in the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital.
As Director of the Congenital Heart Valve Program, he takes particular interests in patients with complex heart valve diseases advocating for valve reconstruction rather than replacement. He also has interests in biventricular repair for DORV, complex AV canal defects and complex neonatal surgery including low birth weight infants and those with high-risk vascular ring, arch, and airway lesions. In addition, he has focused on developing novel and innovative techniques for other difficult lesions such as Scimitar syndrome, pulmonary vein stenosis, patients with TOF-absent pulmonary valve and severe tracheobronchomalacia.
