Ram Kumar Subramanyan, MD, PhD, is a professor of Surgery and Cellular and Integrative Physiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Subramanyan completed his general surgery residency, cardiothoracic surgery training and Congenital Cardiac Surgery Fellowship at University of Southern California. He also completed a PhD in Pathobiology during his surgery residency.
Dr. Subramanyan has a robust practce in clinical congenital heart surgery at Children's Nebraska. He runs a basic science research lab studying the mechanisms underlying congenital heart disease and cardiomyocyte biology. Dr. Subramanyan is the current Chair of the STS Congenital Heart Surgery Database TaskForce, vice-chair of the Council on Quality and Research. He is also the congenital editor of the Seminars in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, apart from being on the editorial board of several cardiothoracic surgical journals. Dr. Subramanyan has over 125 peer-reviewed publications, has co-authored two books, and several textbook chapters.
