Dr. Boris Sepesi is a Director of Thoracic Surgery and Thoracic Surgical Oncology, Sarah Cannon Cancer Network at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado.
Dr. Sepesi was born in former Czechoslovakia and earned his medical degree with honors from Jagiellonian University Medical College in Krakow, Poland. He completed internship and residency in general surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York, where he also spent a year as a research fellow studying clinical outcomes of esophageal cancer therapies and other esophageal diseases. He then completed a clinical fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at MD Anderson Cancer Center/Methodist training program, where he mainly focused on the treatment and multidisciplinary management of patients with complex thoracic oncological diagnoses (lung cancer, esophageal cancer, mesothelioma, mediastinal and chest wall tumors). At MD Anderson, he has also served as chief administrative resident. Dr. Sepesi is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
Research Interests:
Dr. Sepesi’s research interests focus on therapy outcomes, immunotherapy and translational research in esophageal and lung cancers.
Clinical Interests:
Dr. Sepesi’s clinical focus is on surgical therapies of thoracic and upper gastro-intestinal malignancies, utilizing the full spectrum of endoscopic, minimally invasive, and traditional surgical approaches based on disease specific indications and multidisciplinary plans. To advance therapeutic results he also focuses on enrolling patients in clinical trials, and on participating in multidisciplinary conferences to establish the most optimal personalized treatment plan for every patient.
