I am Vice-Chair of the Dept' of Surgery at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston and Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School. I have been at BIDMC since 2011 and previously was Professor of Surgery and Head of Thoracic Surgery at Stanford. I have been interested in Ethics for roughly 20 years and served as Chair of the STS Standards and Ethics Committee for several years. I currently serve on the Cardiothoracic Ethics Forum (joint committee sposored by the STS and AATS), the AATS Ethics Committee and the American College of Surgeons Committee on Ethics.
