Sudish Murthy, MD, PhD, FACS, FCCP is a distinguished Thoracic Surgeon in the Department of Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery at The Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart, Vascular and Thoracic Institute at Cleveland Clinic, and a Professor of Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. He holds the Daniel and Karen Lee Endowed Chair in Thoracic Surgery and is the Chief of the General Thoracic Surgery section as well as the Surgical Director of the Center of Major Airway Disease. Throughout his career, he has performed over 10,000 operations.
Dr. Murthy earned his medical degree from Columbia University and a Ph.D. in pathology from the University of British Columbia. He completed his surgical residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital of Harvard University, where he also specialized in cardiothoracic surgery. Dr. Murthy received numerous accolades, including the prestigious Janeway Prize, Robert F. Loeb Award, and Merck Award. He was a Whitman Traveling Scholar, serving as a surgical emissary at Queen Mary Hospital Medical Center, University of Hong Kong.
Dr. Murthy is a dedicated researcher and prolific writer. He is the Thoracic Associate Editor for the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and has authored or co-authored more than 300 scientific articles in leading peer-reviewed medical journals and over 24 chapters in medical textbooks.
