Clinical Associate
Johns Hopkins Children Center
Monkton, Maryland, United States
I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and graduated from University of Buenos Aires. After my initial training in cardiac surgery in Argentina, I completed a series of residencies and fellowships in the US, training under Drs. Denton Cooley at Texas Heart Institute; William Norwood at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and Aldo Castañeda at Boston Children’s Hospital.
Worked as Director of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery at University of Maryland Hospital for Children for nearly 18 years. This was followed by an 8-year tenure as congenital surgeon at Inova Children’s Hospital in Fairfax, Northern Virginia.
In 2006, I obtained an MPH from the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University. Since 2012 I have worked as volunteer surgeon internationally, becoming a co-founder of Global Cardiac Alliance in 2014. My research has transitioned from purely clinical to areas directly connected to the development of sustainable pediatric cardiac surgery programs in Low-and Middle-Income Countries, particularly in the areas related to costs, human resources, cost-effectiveness and financing.
Currently, I am working as Clinical Associate in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery at Johns Hopkins Children Center while continuing to pursue surgical missions abroad.
