Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute
Miami, Florida, United States
I am the Director of Minimally Invasive Valve Surgery, Chief Medical Executive of Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascualr Institute, Barry T. Katzen Endowed Chair and Professor of Surgery at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. In my role, I lead cardiac surgery, cardiology, vascular surgery and interventional radiology for our 12-hospital health network.
I am extremely passionate about and active in research and a firm believer that we must push the envelope and embrace new ideas in order to move forward. In addition to serving on the STS Board of Directors, I recently served as president of the 21st Century Cardiothoracic Surgery Society and remain a director of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS). I also serve on the Board of Directors for the Thoracic Surgery Foundation (TSF), CTSNet, and the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery (ISMICS).
I appreciate that healthcare revolves not around models and formulas, but around people. I strive every day to deserve the privilege of practicing medicine and remain committed to treating patients like family. I am proud to be involved with the STS 2025 Program Committee.
