Dr. Shah is the Alfred Blalock Director and Chair of Cardiac Surgery and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He trained in General and Cardiothoracic Surgery at Duke University Medical Center. Following his residency, in 2005 he began his career on the faculty of the Johns Hopkins Hospital were he served as the surgical director of the cardiopulmonary transplant and mechanical support programs. In 2015, he joined the faculty at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and was made Department Chair for Cardiac Surgery in 2018.
